Huen Sau to Jut Sau & Tok Sau Transitions – Maintaining Connection in Wing Chun Dummy Practice
In Lesson 24, we explore advanced transitions starting from Double Tan Sau (outside position) into a flowing sequence of Huen Sau, Jut Sau, and Tok Sau—with the Tok Sau hand continuing into a lower palm strike. This coordinated drill develops rhythm, structure, and fluid redirection across both sides of the dummy.
🥋 Core Techniques Covered:
• Transitioning from Double Tan Sau into Huen Sau → Jut Sau → Tok Sau
• Executing a lower palm attack following Tok Sau
• Repeating the cycle on the opposite side for bilateral coordination
🔍 Training Emphasis: Connection & Control
The focus of this lesson is on two essential Wing Chun principles:
Connection and control. Throughout each transition, it’s vital to:
• Maintain constant contact with the dummy arms
• Enhance wrist maneuverability and control under pressure
• Redirect force smoothly and efficiently
• Apply forward energy while preserving structural integrity
These layered transitions also train your ability to manage angles, enabling seamless simultaneous attack and defense—a key element of close-range Wing Chun combat.
By integrating these transitions into your wooden dummy practice, you’ll bridge the gap between static technique and functional, fluid striking. This lesson reinforces the ability to strike with structure, recover instantly, and adapt in real time—skills essential for real-world application.
